TheItalian oil industry is taking full advantage of the low prices of foreign oils. And so, after the 37 thousand tons we reported on, purchased in Tunisia from October to February, here is the announcement of another 92 thousand tons of oil sourced in Spain.
We read this in the latest Foreign Trade Bulletin of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, which shows that olive oil exports increased by 10 percent in volume between October 2025 and January 31, 2026, reaching 301,140 tons, while in value they decreased by 20 percent to 1,373.9 million.

And Italy is confirmed as the top buyer with an impressive 92,799 tons, registering a +4 percent increase over what was shipped in the same period last year. And what a buyer! Suffice it to say that the oil shipped to Italy is more than that shipped to the other four main foreign markets, namely the U.S. (38,000 tons), Portugal (29,000), the U.K. (13,000) and China (9,000).

Spain’s average monthly export volume stands at 75,285 tons. And the destinations are the most varied, confirming that Spain clearly dominates the market. In addition to the first five countries mentioned above, Spanish oil also reaches Germany, Australia, Mexico, Japan, Belgium, Holland, Brazil and Colombia in significant quantities (7,000 to 3,000 tons) in that order.

Curious (up to a point) to note that Spain in the reporting period purchased about 80 thousand tons from abroad – worth 299.1 million euros – mainly from Portugal (39 thousand) and Tunisia (26 thousand).
